The radiator is basically the vehicle’s engine cooling system.

As the name indicates, the main function of this system is to cool down the engine system of the vehicle and this cooling system basically consists of exhaust, oil, thermostat, and radiator.
When the thermostat recognizes a greater temperature in the engine system, then the car radiator comes into action, it releases water and engine coolant. This mixture then goes to the engine system and it takes up the heat from the engine system. As already discussed, this heat is caused by the burning of fuel and friction. So, the mixture of water and engine coolant takes up this heat from the engine system and returns to the car radiator.
The radiator then regulates the temperature of the mixture and after its cooling, sends it back to the engine to repeat the process.
If we talk about the position or the location of the radiator, then it is mostly located towards the front of the vehicle. It is located next to the engine. However, there are a few vehicles also that have a radiator that is not present in the front. It can be at the back also.
Hence, we can conclude that radiator is a very important component of the vehicle. The car radiator is responsible for allowing the vehicle engine to continue to run without overheating and breaking down. The radiator consistently and continuously collects overheated coolant and runs it through the metal parts. These metal parts direct the heat into the air and ultimately away from the engine.
Therefore, the cooling liquid returns to the engine. So, without a car radiator, our car’s engine would never last.
If we discuss how a radiator works and how it cools down the engine then, a radiator is a pretty simple device. It consists of an aluminum mesh and in this aluminum mesh, there is a tube that runs parallel to it.
From one part of the tube, the hot water and coolant enters. This mixture is then cooled by the radiator and transferred back to the engine. Now, the radiator does this by air that is continuously feeding through the front of the radiator. Further, the mesh has aluminum fins that are attached to this tube. The air passes through the aluminum mesh and cools these aluminum fins.
When the mixture of the coolant passes through these tubes, it heats up the aluminum fins and as a result, the heat energy is dissipated from the mixture to the aluminum fins and ultimately the mixture becomes cooler as compared to when it entered the cooling system and it goes back to the engine and all the aluminum fins are cooled down by the continuous air that is passing through them.
A radiator cools down the water and coolant mixture and sends it back to the engine and the cycle continues to repeat. Aluminum is used in this radiator mechanism because aluminum has high thermal conductivity and it absorbs heat very quickly.
Therefore, the radiator is the central station for the engine’s cooling system. The main function of the radiator is to cool down the fluid and consequently, this cool fluid helps to cool down the engine of the vehicle.
Radiators are essential for the proper functioning of vehicles because, without a radiator, an engine will warm up too much and will cease to work or will breakdown.
Thus, the presence of radiators in vehicles prevents these things and ensures the proper functioning of the engine and vehicle.
